Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo on Friday arrived in the Eritrean capital Asmara ahead of a 3 day state visit.
Farmaajo is in Eritrea under invitation by President Isias Afwerki.
Eritrea which until recent was politically isolated by its Horn of Africa neighbours had in thoasstbneen accused by the UN of funding Somalia militant group Alshabaab.
Asmara’s recent end of state of war with neighbouring Ethiopia, an ally of Somalia, has seen it reinstate diplomatic relations with other countries.
Somalia and Eritrea are the only former Italian colonies in Africa.
