At least 10 people are confirmed dead after a dawn raid on three Somalia National Army bases by militant group Alshabaab near the South West state administrative capital of Baidoa.
The militants attacked SNA positions at  Goofgaduud, Buurey and Daynuunay which are less than 30km from Baidoa.
The government forces reportedly retreated after the simultaneous attacks on the three bases.
Several Alshabaab and SNA soldiers were injured.
Alshabaab has in the last three days sustained attacks in Middle Shabelle and Bay regions indicating a surge in the insurgency.
