Somalia Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheire on Thursday evening paid a courtesy call at the Mogadishu home of the former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Radio Dalsan reports.
The two former political allies were meeting for the first time in more than a year after Mohamud lost in the February 2017 presidential elections.
Prior to the elections Kheire had served Mohamud as one of his chief elections campaigners.
At one point Mohamud had unsuccessfully nominated Kheire to be Somalia’s choice to lead regional bloc IGAD.
Former Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud returned to the country on Thursday after an 18 months absence.
Mohamud is set to visit all the regions in the country ina two week visit ththat will culminate in to the launch of a new political party, Radio Dalsan has learnt.
Khaire had appointed a special committee made up of Security, Planning, Transport and Telecommunication to ministers to welcome the former head of state at the Aden Abdulle International Airport.
Mohamud relocated to Tanzania and later Turkey upon his lose to Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo in the February 2017 elections.
