A Somali diplomat and three others have been released four years after serving in a Kenyan jail for terror related charges.
Ilyas Yusuf Warsame who was the Second Secretary at the Federal Government of Somalia Embassy in Nairobi was acquitted by a Kenya court on Monday for lack of evidence..
Warame, Hassan Abdi Mohamed, Mohamed Osman Ali and Garad Hassan were arrested following a blast that occurred at a Java House restaurant Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on January 16 2014.
A trash can near the entrance into the international departures was blown up in the explosion. No one was injured.
They had denied 12 charges which included being members of Alshabaab and possessing explosives.
Somalia government had upon Yusuf’s arrest requested for the release of the diplomat but Kenya declined.
