Ten people were killed and scores others were wounded when Ethiopian military planes hit public transport vehicles near Burhakaba town.
Sources said among the casualties are Al Shabaab members who were searching the vehicles before the Ethiopian airstrike hit the vehicles.
Government official from the area has also confirmed to the media about the attack saying unspecified number of other people were wounded.
Somali National Army backed by African Union troops from Kenya and Ethiopia have been battling Al Shabaab fighters in Bay region for the past week.
The troops captured Bardere and Dinsor which was in the hands of Al Shabaab since 2009.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh has described the capture of Dinsor and Bardere as success and major achievement as far as war on Al Shabaab is concerned.
