At least four people are feared dead after a grenade explosion hit a rally that was been adressed by Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed.
At least 100 people are reported to have injured.
Ethiopian Police say they treat the incident as an “assassination attempt” against PM Abiy.
The explosion occured as Abiy was about to finish his speech.
Fitsum Arega the PM Chief of Staff later conflicted Abiy’s announcement that “several people” had been killed.
“As of now, based on reports from Police and Hospitals, 83 people are injured. Of the 83 injured, 6 are in critical conditions. No death so far has been reported” Arega tweeted.
