The Director General of the Immigration and Nationality Agency (HSJ), Mustafa Dhuxulow, held a productive meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Somalia, Alper Aktaş, to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of migration and institutional capacity building.
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the two sides, particularly in migration management, workforce capacity development, and the facilitation of immigration services between Somalia and Türkiye.
A key area of emphasis was Türkiye’s continued support in building the professional capacity of HSJ officers. Ambassador Aktaş reaffirmed his government’s readiness to assist through technical training programs, workshops, and skills development initiatives. These efforts will include both in-country training sessions and overseas programs, including Training of Trainers (ToTs), aimed at ensuring sustainable knowledge transfer within the agency.
The meeting also addressed support for the development of the Immigration Academy to improve the quality, efficiency, and professionalism of services delivered by the agency. Türkiye is expected to contribute both technical expertise and material assistance to strengthen the knowledge and operational skills of officers serving at airports and border points across the country.
The engagement reflects the strong and growing partnership between Somalia and Türkiye, particularly in institutional development and public service delivery.
Regarding public commentary questioning the purpose of such meetings, officials emphasized that international cooperation and diplomatic engagement are essential components of institutional reform and service improvement. Capacity building, technical partnerships, and long-term collaboration often begin with high-level engagements that lay the groundwork for tangible results.
