The Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an emergency meeting at its headquarters in Jeddah to discuss the situation in Somalia, following Israel’s announcement recognizing Somaliland.
Speaking on behalf of OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, the Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Yousef Al Dubaie, stressed that the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia are fundamental and non-negotiable principles, according to News.Az.
He noted that the meeting comes at a critical and sensitive time, as Somalia faces serious challenges affecting its security, stability, and independence. This situation, he said, underscores a collective responsibility for OIC member states to intensify efforts, close ranks, and provide unified support to the Federal Government of Somalia.
The OIC reaffirmed its full and unwavering support for Somalia, emphasizing the country’s inalienable right to preserve its national unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The organization also categorically rejected any attempts to impose a new political reality that could undermine regional stability and pose a threat to the security of the Horn of Africa.
