The Director General of Mogadishu Port, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur (Ameriko), led a delegation to Abu Dhabi where they held productive discussions with Mohamed Eidha Almemhali, Executive Head for Africa at Abu Dhabi Ports Group.
The meeting focused on port innovation, boosting operational productivity, and developing long-term strategies to strengthen trade routes across the region. Both sides explored avenues to enhance infrastructure, improve efficiency, and support sustainable economic growth through strengthened port operations.
Ambassador Ameriko highlighted that the discussions symbolize another key step toward the development of the new, modern Mogadishu Port. He emphasized that the project is expected to not only boost Somalia’s economic growth and regional trade but also create a foundation for sustainable progress in the logistics and transport sectors.
The delegation expressed optimism about the collaboration with Abu Dhabi Ports, noting that such partnerships are essential for modernizing Somalia’s port infrastructure and positioning Mogadishu as a competitive hub for international trade.
The meeting underscores Somalia’s commitment to expanding strategic partnerships and attracting investment to strengthen its maritime and logistics capabilities, which are vital for the country’s long-term economic development.
