The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jaama, on Tuesday officially opened the second National Monitoring and Evaluation Conference, aimed at strengthening the country’s planning system and accelerating the implementation and development of government institutions. The conference also seeks to establish a unified approach to planning and oversight across all federal agencies.
During his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Salah emphasized that the conference is designed to enhance the capacity of government institutions, build robust operational systems, and advance national development policies. He noted that while the National Transformation Plan has been completed, it is essential to implement an effective national monitoring system to ensure tangible results.
The conference, organized by the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, brought together senior officials from government agencies as well as representatives from the international community. Participants commended Somalia’s political and development achievements and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting and strengthening government institutions.
Officials highlighted the importance of institutional capacity building, the establishment of strong operational frameworks, and the need for transparent monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track progress. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that coordinated oversight and planning are critical to achieving sustainable development and ensuring accountability in government programs.
The conference serves as a platform for dialogue between Somali institutions and international partners, fostering collaboration and sharing best practices in monitoring, evaluation, and strategic planning. It underscores the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, improve service delivery, and promote efficient, results-oriented public administration.
