The Mayor of Mogadishu and Governor of Banaadir, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), on Saturday officially laid the foundation for the renovation and construction of 18 modern health centers, equipped with comprehensive medical facilities aimed at improving healthcare services across the city.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the Mother and Child Health Center (MCH) in Waaberi, with members of the health community in attendance. The project includes four major hospitals and 14 MCH clinics, to be built across 11 districts of Mogadishu. The initiative is designed to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, particularly services for mothers and children, ensuring access to quality medical care for all.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Muungaab emphasized that all the new facilities will provide free healthcare services, making the project especially significant for underprivileged communities who would otherwise rely on costly private care.
“The administration is committed to protecting the health rights of citizens and ensuring equal access to medical services for everyone,” he said, highlighting the project’s role in supporting vulnerable populations.
During the ceremony, Dr. Muungaab also addressed upcoming elections, urging citizens to visit registration centers as the issuance of voting cards officially begins. He stressed that participation in the elections is a civic duty and a vital step toward strengthening democracy and stability in the region.
The new health centers are expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery in Mogadishu, particularly maternal and child health services, while also reinforcing the administration’s commitment to community well-being and social equity.
