Algiers, November 11, 2025 – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and his Algerian counterpart, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, witnessed the signing of several important cooperation agreements between the two nations. The agreements were signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Education, Livestock, and Petroleum from both countries.
The new accords cover broad areas of collaboration, including the export of livestock, agricultural development, education, petroleum and natural gas cooperation, as well as the facilitation of diplomatic travel. Under the new arrangement, Somali diplomatic passport holders will be granted entry visas upon arrival in Algeria.
These agreements mark the foundation of a strategic partnership aimed at advancing the mutual interests of Somalia and Algeria, strengthening their historic brotherly ties, and promoting the welfare of both peoples.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressed his gratitude to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and the people of Algeria for their warm hospitality and the spirit of solidarity they have shown. He praised Algeria’s leading role in defending African interests and its consistent support for friendly nations across the continent.
The Somali leader also thanked President Tebboune for offering 500 academic scholarships to Somali students. The scholarships will focus on critical fields such as agriculture, fisheries, and petroleum engineering—areas that are essential to Somalia’s development priorities.
In conclusion, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud commended President Tebboune’s leadership in establishing the “African Cooperation and Solidarity Fund,” describing it as a visionary initiative that strengthens unity and progress across the continent.
