The Director General of Mogadishu Port, Ambassador Maohamed Ali Nuur (Ameriko), on Monday hosted a high-level delegation from Banadir University at his office to discuss ongoing collaboration on training and capacity-building initiatives.
The delegation was led by Dr. Osman Mohamud Dufle, Chairman of the Upper House Social Services Committee and Chair of the Banadir University Foundation, along with Dr. Mohamed Mohamud Hassan, Chairman of Banadir University.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Managers of Mogadishu Port.
During the meeting, the university leadership expressed their appreciation for recent knowledge and skills enhancement programs conducted at Mogadishu Port for Banadir University students.
In particular, the Faculty of Marine Sciences students benefited from hands-on training sessions that provided practical experience in port operations, logistics, and maritime management.
The training aimed to complement the students’ academic studies with real-world exposure to the operational environment of Somalia’s key maritime hub.
Dr. Osman Mohamud Dufle emphasized the importance of partnerships between educational institutions and public service institutions like Mogadishu Port in developing the next generation of skilled professionals.
He noted that these collaborations equip students with the technical expertise and practical skills required to contribute effectively to Somalia’s economic development, particularly in the maritime and logistics sectors.
In response, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nuur expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing partnership and reiterated the port’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the knowledge and professional capacities of students.
He highlighted that the port’s collaboration with academic institutions is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the workforce, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to national development.
The university officials also pledged to reciprocate the support by offering free capacity-building and training opportunities to Mogadishu Port staff, enabling them to gain additional knowledge and skills that will enhance port operations and service delivery.
This mutual exchange of training and expertise is expected to create a sustainable framework for long-term professional development for both students and port employees.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to further deepen cooperation, formalize training programs, and explore additional opportunities for joint initiatives that benefit students, port staff, and the wider Somali community.
