Tel Aviv/Gaza – The Israeli Navy intercepted several boats carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza on Thursday, detaining passengers that included Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, according to Israeli and activist group statements.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that its naval forces “safely intercepted” multiple vessels belonging to the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) as they approached Gaza. The passengers, who had refused to change course after being ordered to divert, were escorted to an Israeli port for processing.
