Mogadishu – The Federal Government of Somalia has welcomed a message of support from Egypt, reaffirming Cairo’s commitment to assist Somalia’s security and stabilization efforts.
The announcement was made by Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an official statement praising Egypt’s “consistent solidarity” with the Somali people and government.
The statement emphasized Somalia’s gratitude for Egypt’s longstanding support, describing it as a reflection of the deep historical ties and strategic cooperation between the two nations. The ministry noted that Egypt’s renewed pledge of support comes at a critical juncture as Somalia intensifies efforts to restore peace, stability, and state authority.
The declaration was issued on September 22, 2025, amid heightened security operations against insurgent groups and ongoing international engagement to strengthen Somalia’s defense sector.
The diplomatic exchange took place between Mogadishu and Cairo, underscoring the strong relationship within the broader Horn of Africa and North Africa regional security context.
Egypt’s support carries symbolic and practical weight. Beyond political backing, Egypt has been providing military assistance and training to Somalia’s armed forces.
