Lawmakers — both MPs and Senators — have been formally instructed to attend the opening session at the parliament headquarters in Mogadishu. The new session is expected to focus on several pressing national issues, particularly those central to state-building and governance reforms.

The 7th session comes at a time when Somalia is grappling with key political, security, and economic challenges. Parliament is expected to deliberate on legislation and oversight matters that will shape the country’s governance trajectory in the months ahead.

The opening will take place on Saturday, September 20, at the Federal Parliament headquarters in Mogadishu.

According to parliamentary protocol, the session will be inaugurated with formal speeches by the leadership, followed by a legislative agenda that includes debates and committee briefings on priority issues.

As the 11th Parliament enters its 7th session, Somali lawmakers face the dual responsibility of responding to immediate national challenges while advancing long-term reforms. The September 20 opening marks another milestone in Somalia’s ongoing journey of state-building and institutional strengthening.
