Mogadishu, – A 16-member delegation from the Egyptian National Army arrived in Mogadishu on Sunday to conduct an assessment and reconnaissance ahead of the official deployment of Egyptian troops to Somalia. The forces are scheduled to join the African Union Stabilization Support Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The delegation, led by Major General Islam Radwan, was formally welcomed by senior officials from AUSSOM and the Somali National Army.
Following their arrival, the team held meetings with AUSSOM leadership at the headquarters in Mogadishu, including Special Representative of the African Union and Head of AUSSOM, Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, to review security briefings and operational plans.
During their stay in Somalia, the Egyptian delegation will visit key sites in Mogadishu and operational areas designated as forward bases and logistics hubs for the incoming Egyptian troops, who will directly support AUSSOM stabilization operations in the country.
