Beledweyne, Somalia –  A high-level delegation led by Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abduqaadir Hussein Omar, arrived today in Beledweyne, the capital of the Hiiraan region, marking an important diplomatic visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and supporting ongoing stabilization efforts in central Somalia.

The Djiboutian delegation was warmly received at Ugaas Khaliif International Airport by senior officials of the Hirshabelle regional administration, including Hirshabelle Minister of Interior Abdi Dahir Guure Karoore and Hiiraan Governor Muse Salad Wehliye. Also present were members of the Hirshabelle regional and district councils, Somali National Army officers, representatives of security forces, and hundreds of local residents.

Upon arrival, the minister and his delegation were accorded a guard of honor by contingents of the Somali National Armed Forces and troops from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), underscoring the significance of the visit.

According to Hirshabelle authorities, the Djiboutian Foreign Minister will hold a series of meetings with Djiboutian military officers stationed in Beledweyne, who are part of AUSSOM’s stabilization mission in the region. The discussions are expected to focus on regional security cooperation, support for counterterrorism operations against Al-Shabaab, and Djibouti’s role in fostering political stability in Somalia.

Djibouti, a close ally of Somalia, has consistently contributed troops and diplomatic support to international peacekeeping missions. This visit highlights Djibouti’s continued commitment to strengthening ties with Somalia at both the federal and regional levels, while also demonstrating solidarity with local communities in Hiiraan.
