The airstrike was first confirmed by the Somali Government through the defence military spokesman Abdullahi Ali Anod on Friday.

“Government forces have targeted the militants at a place they were regrouping in preparation for an offensive against bases of our allied forces,” Anod said.

The airstrikes have been helpful in the fight against the insurgent group which has about 7000 armed men, fighting for their cause.

The group has carried out numerous attacks including double car Bomb attacks last week targeting the headquarters of the ministry of education in Mogadishu.
