A suicide bomber blew himself up at a military training camp in Somalia on Saturday just days after 120 people were killed in a double-car bomb attack in Mogadishu.
According to the security agencies who spoke to state media the attack was plotted by Al-Shabab militants after experiencing military setbacks at battlefields.
´´Innocent civilian casualties reported as a suicide bomber blew himself up at the outside of the Candy Army Base in Mogadishu´´security agencies told the media said.
The government has not yet commented on the attack claimed by Al-Shabaab.
The attack comes just a week after the militant group killed 120 people and injured over 300 others near the city’s busy Zobe intersection.
Al-Shabaab fighters have stepped up their attacks in Somalia since Mohamud was elected in May and vowed an “all-out war” on the Islamists.
The insurgents have been seeking to overthrow the fragile foreign-backed government in Mogadishu for about 15 years.
They were driven out of the capital in 2011 by an African Union force but the group still controls swathes of the countryside and continues to wage deadly strikes on civilian, political, and military targets.
