Somalia has welcomed the peace agreement signed by the Ethiopian government and Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) officials in South Africa.
In a statement on Friday, the ministry of foreign affairs stressed that the agreement fulfills the aspirations of the Ethiopian people for development and prosperity and the unity.
´´Somalia hopes this agreement African problem-African Solution will pave the way for a comprehensive Ethiopian-Ethiopian reconciliation that completely ends violence, internal strife and aspiration of secessionist, and above all promote prosperity, economic growth for Ethiopia the region and beyond.´´the ministry said in a statement.
The Federal Republic of Somalia stressed the importance of the agreement and consistently supports a peaceful, economically prosperous Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa which is free of violence and armed conflicts.
As the path of peace is fraught with challenges that requires more perseverance, determination and trust, the Government and the people of Somalia will support this agreement become a lasting solution and a lesson to learn.
