The leaders of Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia will hold a tripartite summit in the Eritrean capital Asmara, Radio Dalsan reports.

Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed had already arrived in Eritrea and Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed is also expected to arrive later Wednesday.

The leaders are expected to discuss on various issues and ways to strengthen their ties.

“The President of the Republic of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, will arrive in Asmara later today for a tripartite Summit with President Isaias Afwerki and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed” Eritrean Information Minister Yemane Meskel tweeted.

Thos will be Farmaajo’s and Abiy’s second visit to the Red Sea nation.

Farmaajo’s first trip to Asmara caused a diplomatic row with Somalia ally Djibouti who have a long running border dispute with Eritrea.

Farmaajo reportedly initiated an arbitration between the two countries ans this is likely to be tabled on the Asmara Tripartite Summit
