Mayor of Mogadishu, who is also Governor of Banadir Region, honorable Abdirahman Omar Osman (Eng. Yarisow) has, while attending a launch ceremony for Dalsan TV, commended Somali Business Community for investing hugely in the city.
The Governor has pointed out that Media outlets` increase in the city depicts the existence of Democracy and Freedom of Expression in the country.
“Media is the eyes of the society; therefore, they should prioritize reporting on the needs and problems of the society,while taking into account and safeguarding the unity, togetherness and stability of the society, since Mogadishu is the only African City that takes the lead with regard to Freedom of Expressionâ€
Mr. Yarisow, the Governor of Banadir Region, has advised the media operating in Banadir Region to critically analyze and brainstorm the information they are delivering to the society while, at the same time, avoiding to report on information that remains baseless.
“Banadir Region Administration will fully ensure that freedom of the media is protected, while taking into consideration the rights enshrined in the constitution and the rule of law in the country. We are committed to enhancing the quality of the journalists to help them deliver authentic information and programs to the society†said Eng. Yarisow.
The Governor of Banadir region has, on the other hand, congratulated the administration of Dalsan TV media on their efforts to expand their media services while advising them to intensify their role on protecting the unity of the society, security and the development of the region.
