Somalia militant group Alshabaab has claimed responsibility for the death of an official of the Hamarweyne District of the Banaadir regional administration.

“Fagase” who is a District Officer was shot dead on Saturday evening outside his office by a lone gunman.

An unidentified male said to be his friend was also killed in the shooting.

Alshabaab through its affiliate website announced that one of its assassins executed the killings.

The Alqaeda linked group has been leading a ten year insurgency targeting government interests and Amisom peacekeeping troops.
