Former Governor of Banaadir Thabit Abdi Mohamed on Tuesday left for the Kenya capital Nairobi on a break after his replacement.

Mohamed who recently received the top National Leadership Award was given a big send off by Senators and MPs at the Aden Abdulle International Airport in the capital Mogadishu.

Among the leaders included MP Mino Hassan, Senator ZamZam, MP Yusuf Kabale.

Mohamed who was the Deputy Chef De Mission at the Somali Embassy in Washington was appointed Governor of Banaadir and Mayor of Mogadishu in April 2017 as President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo took office.

The young governor won the hearts of many residents of the capital by taking public service closer to the people and his reaction to the October 14 bombing.
