Two roadside explosions on Thursday hit a convoy of US and Kenya Defence Forces near the port city of Kismayu.

The convoy was transporting supplies to a KDF military base in Gofgaduud  when it came under attack.

Firefight ensued following the explosion.

There is an unconfirmed number of deaths from both sides.

Alshabaab through its affiliated websites claimed responsibility for the attack.
