The semiautonomous states of Jubaland in southern Somalia has Sunday officially announced to have banned Universal TV from operating within its administration that is the Lower Jubba, Middle Jubba and Gedo regions for what they say that the TV is creating hostility and abhorrence among the communities in the regions.
“Until further notice we the administration of Jubbaland has officially banned Universal TV from operating within the radius of its administration, we come to understand that this TV channel airs all ill propaganda and false stories against the administration, and that is the main reason as to why we suspended the TV channel†says the minister for information of the Jubbaland authority.
The minister also added that they have sent messages to the higher officials of the TV channel to stop what he called as baseless fabricated propagandas.
This will not be the first time for the regional administrations in Somalia to temporary ban media stations and detained journalists, without genuine grounds.
