Reports coming from Wajid district in Bakool region in Southwest Somalia say that the Somali government militarily backed by the Amisom troops has on late Tuesday taken control of El-Boon location which is very strategic.

Geographically the location is 45km west of Luuq district in Gedo region and 45km east of Wajid district.

Alshabab fighters have been in control of El-Boon location for more than 8 years according to Wajid district administration.

“We are in full control of El-Boon location and we shall be further chasing out this remnants of Alshabab from the last areas in which they are hiding in the region, in fact these guys are not as powerful as they once used to be now they are very feeble” said Abdullahi Yarisow the district commissioner of Wajid district speaking to the English department of Radio Dalsan.

On the other hand the district commissioner has added that they have killed 15 of the Alshabab fighters during the combat, scores wounded and weapons confiscated.

The district commissioner has urged the residents in the liberation areas to be calm and patient and sent message to the humanitarian agencies to immediately reach these people who have been in bad humanitarian situation for more than 10 years.
