Somali Government Spokesman Ridwaj Haji Abdiweli has announced his resignation from the office he was holding for the past two years.

Abdiweli who announced his decision through his official twitter account cited undisclosed personal issue as the main reason.

“I want to announce my resignation as the government spokesman and media adviser to the prime minister of Somalia, it was great honor for me for the past two years to serve my country which is experiencing great challenge,” he said in a letter sent to newsrooms.

“The main reason behind my decision is pure personal issue but want to make sure to the Somali people on my readiness to serve the people at any given time,” he added.

Ridwan finally thanked family and friends who he said have encouraged him to take up the challenging position to serve Somali nation.

Before he joined the government Ridwan Hajji Abdiweli was a presenter and producer at London based Universal TV which is leading Somali speaking channel outside the contry.
