Somalia’s defense minister Abdulkadir Shekh Dini on Wednesday met with EU military officials here in the capital Mogadishu. The EU operation in Somalia has been providing training and logistical assistants to Somali forces for more than five years.

Both sides have touched on a wide range of issue including Somali peace process, EU’s pledge to Federal government and the fight against the Al-shabaab militants.

“The meeting was discussed rebuilding and equipping Somali army as well strengthening their capabilities to handle the country’s security. Our EU Friends are ready to continue supporting Somalia“the minister said in a statement.

“One of our main priorities is to undertake re-integration process for all Somali armed forces; we need to focus the planned work in the upcoming twelve months “Abdukadir said. Somalia has been wracked by civil war since the fall of Dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991.
