Two CID officers behind the arrest of Humanitarian Affairs Director General Dahir Noor have been detained on orders by the Banaadir Regional Court.
The two were arrested a day after new details and evidence emerged around last Wednesday’s arrest of Noor that could clear him of fraud in a case trailing alleged squander of more than $40000.
The officers had been summoned at the Banaadir Court before their arrest.
Radio Dalsan on Sunday published an exclusive featuring documents that showed the said amount had been utilised to pay advisors, consultants and a trip by Humanitarian Affairs Minister Hamza to London.
The Banaadir Court Chief Judge Muse Mohamed Ali has also questioned why the office of the Auditor General gave green light to the arrest of Noor before proper investigation.
Noor’s Lawyer Abdikarim Mohamed has demanded that his client be released or arraigned before a court.
An insider at the Ministry alleged to Radio Dalsan that the arrest of Noor was a “withch hunt” by a former Deputy Minister at the Ministry who had been denied access to the funds from the UN on suspicion that he may misappropriate it.
