Turkey To Build New SNA Military Camp In Mogadishu

The Somalia National Army has been allocated a land outside the Somali capital Mogadishu where a modern military camp is to be established.

Governor of Banaadir region and Mayor of Mogadishu Abdirahman Omar Osman “Yarisow” presided over allocation of the land in Jazeera, Wadajir district.

The Turkish government will use the land to open a modern military training camp for SNA.

Governor Osman said that construction on the land whose large portion is owned by the Somali military will soon start.

“We allocated this land for use of common interest and it will be a military training camp. And it’s a plan that has a benefit to the security and image of the region in general,” said Osman.

Governor Osman said that land owners affected will be compensated by the government.

“We talked with the commander of the Somali National Army and the Defence Minister on how to sort out some portions of the land which are owned by citizens. We will form a committee for that issue. Every party that will come with valid documents will be given another land that will be allocated,” Osman said.

Minister for Defence Mr. Mohamed Mursal and Army Chief Gen. Abdiweli Jama Gorod appreciated the collaboration between the national army and the public in Banaadir and promised to work on how best to sort out the people whose lands have been used for the military training camp.

Commander of the Turkish training camp in Somalia Gen. Mohamed Yasin noted the brotherly relationship between the two countries and added that they will give priority to the rebuilding of Somalia especially security and economic development.
