Pro Khaire MPs Demand For Resignation Of Speaker

At least forty MPs allied to Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire have demanded the resignation of Speaker of the Lower House Mohamed Osman Jawari as a political rift between the two widens.

Speaking at a press conference in the capital Mogadishu the MPs accused Jawari of being an impediment to Parliamentary procedures and the Somali constitution.

Jawari on Friday accused the Prime Minister of ordering the military to “seize” Parliament buildings two days after a vote of no confidence against Speaker flopped.

MPs allied to Jawarii accused PM Khaire of masterminding the motion.

The international community has asked for the Parliament and executive to resolve the deadlock.
