MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Federal Republic of Somalia issued an official statement on Sunday, March 22, 2026, expressing heartfelt condolences to the governments and people of Qatar and Turkey following a deadly helicopter crash.

The incident occurred in the territorial waters of the State of Qatar, resulting in the tragic loss of seven lives. According to the Somali government, the victims were performing their duty at the time of the crash.

In a press release from the Somali government, the nation affirmed its full solidarity with the brotherly countries during this period of mourning.

“Somalia extends its heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims in this tragic loss, affirming its full solidarity with Qatar and Turkey during this difficult time,” the statement read.

The Somali government concluded the message with prayers, asking “God Almighty to grant the deceased His mercy and to grant their families and loved ones patience and comfort.”
