President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia is set to travel to Tanzania today to take part in the 25th Ordinary Summit of the East African Community (EAC), as the country continues to cement its role within the regional bloc.

The high-level meeting will convene Heads of State from member countries on March 7, 2026, in Arusha, the diplomatic hub that hosts the EAC’s headquarters. The summit represents a key moment for regional dialogue and collective decision-making among East African leaders.

Observers note that President Mohamud’s attendance signals Mogadishu’s commitment to playing an active and constructive role within the EAC. As the newest member, Somalia stands to gain from increased market access, investment flows, and technical cooperation—while also contributing to the collective vision of a more integrated and prosperous East Africa.
